Without doubt the highlight of our day was worship with other believers at Christ Church on Shamian Island. We heard a message on the grace of God expressed in Jesus Christ from Romans ch. 3. We sang It Is Well With My Soul and some praise and worship songs, prayed, and listened to the sermon, spoken in Chinese and interpreted into English. Such hope on the faces of the faithful!! We rejoiced to be with our family in Christ, no matter the language or the barriers of geography. Jenna fell asleep at one point during the message, but she was well-behaved and seemed to be somewhat soothed by the singing. She was all eyes and ears.
After a quick lunch we met with our friends Steve and Lydia with their girls (all four) and went in and out through the local shops and then were given a private room at Lucy's for dinner. Maylie and Jenna talked to one another, shared gummy fruits and compared wardrobes.
Jenna seems to be a little more active each day, wanting to be on the go and always ready to be picked up by Mama or Daddy. She is catching on to things very fast and picks up on every little thing we do to predict if she is getting ready to go somewhere or not. The one place she does not like to go is to bed. She will always cry a little, but that is over in a few moments and then she drifts off to sleep, then wakes up with a bang!
Tomorrow the doctor visit and then the rest of the day is free for adventure!

ReplyDeleteI am loving reading your blog and finding out what you guys are doing. Jenna looks like she's been with you forever, it is hard to believe that it's only been a week. I am so happy that you all are together now. Can't wait to meet her in person. What a way to celebrate Mother's Day huh!
